Why Bangalore Teams Choose Virama Farm Stay

Most corporate "offsite" venues near Bangalore are simply hotels with a conference room labelled as a retreat. The team takes the same calls, sits in the same posture, eats from the same buffet line — just in a different postcode. Virama is structurally different.

At Virama, there is no conference room. There is an outdoor projector under open sky, a farm with rope courses between trees, a pool that is genuinely inviting, a bonfire that gets lit every evening and a kitchen that produces real home-cooked food. The absence of hotel infrastructure — the lobbies, the brand signage, the strangers in the corridor — is precisely what makes the setting work for teams. People actually talk to each other.

For engineering teams doing a quarterly retrospective, product teams doing a roadmap sprint, or sales teams doing an annual kickoff, Virama provides the physical and psychological reset that makes the subsequent conversation sharper. Teams arrive from Bangalore in under 1 hour on a paved road, settle in quickly (no check-in queue, no keycard system) and are in the pool or on the rope course within the hour.

Because the entire property is exclusively yours — all 6 rooms, the pool, the farm, all activity areas — team dynamics play out naturally. Spontaneous conversations around the pool, the rope course creating real trust moments, the bonfire enabling the kind of honest post-work conversations that Zoom happy hours never quite manage.

Day Outing vs Overnight Retreat

Both formats work well at Virama. Here is how to choose.

Day Outing

10am – 8pm · No overnight stay

  • Full exclusive property access
  • All 5 rope activities
  • Pool from 10am – 8pm
  • Lunch + snacks + evening chai
  • Outdoor projector session (2–3 hours)
  • Bonfire at 6pm
  • Food at ₹1,000/person additional
  • Best for: Quarterly off-sites, kickoffs, team-building days

When to choose this: Team is within Bangalore, budget is tighter, or the outing is mid-week. Gives 8–9 hours on-property — enough for a full activity sequence and a working session.

Most Popular

Overnight Retreat

1 night · 2 days · Check-out by 11am

  • Full property exclusivity across 2 days
  • All team activities across both days
  • All meals (dinner + breakfast + lunch)
  • 24hr pool access — late-night swims
  • Bonfire + projector both evenings
  • AC accommodation for up to 28
  • Food at ₹1,000/person additional
  • Best for: Annual offsites, leadership retreats, new team formation

When to choose this: Team is distributed across Bangalore and commuting twice is friction. The second morning — morning walk, farm breakfast, final swim — consistently produces the best team conversations. Worth it for any team that wants the full reset.

Team Activities — Detailed Breakdown

Participant counts, time required and how each activity works for corporate groups.

5 Rope Activities

Burma bridge · tyre traverse · rope ladder · balance beam · zipline

Takes 1.5–2 hours for a team of 20 to rotate through all 5 stations. No facilitator required — the course is self-guided. Natural trust-building through mild physical challenge. Suitable for all fitness levels; the rope ladder and balance beam work well for competitive team scoring.

Up to 28 participants · No facilitator needed

Badminton Court

Full-sized outdoor court with equipment

Doubles and singles formats. Works well as a knockout tournament across 20–28 players over 2 hours. Equipment provided. The court is surfaced and lit for evening play.

2–4 players per match · Tournament format for full team

Foosball Table

Great tournament-format icebreaker

Ideal as a warm-up icebreaker during the first 30 minutes of arrival. Run a round-robin of 2v2 pairs — a team of 20 can complete a full round-robin in under 90 minutes. Creates unexpected bonding between team members who don't usually interact.

4 players per game · Round-robin for 20+ works well

Team Bonfire

Evening campfire for informal bonding

Lit every evening as a complimentary feature of the stay. The bonfire area is set in the farm — surrounded by trees, open sky, no city noise. This is where teams report the most honest and useful conversations happening. Teams of 28 easily gather around it. Bring your own snacks or use Virama's kitchen for chai and roasted snacks.

Up to 28 guests · Complimentary every evening

Outdoor Projector

Presentations, retrospectives, movie screenings

Available for any use — roadmap presentations, team retrospectives, award nights or movie screenings under the open sky. Screen size is approximately 120 inches. Connects via HDMI. Best used after dark for highest visibility. Confirm your laptop connector (USB-C adapter recommended). No AV technician on-site; straightforward plug-and-play.

Visible for up to 40 viewers · HDMI connection

Nature Walk — 3 Acres

Guided walk through the working farm

A 30–45 minute guided walk through the Areca Nut plantation, Melia Dubia canopy, Mahogany grove and fruit tree sections. Works well as a morning activity before breakfast — the early light through the Areca Nut rows is genuinely striking. Can be combined with a silent walk format for reflective team check-ins.

Up to 28 participants · 30–45 minutes

Accommodation for Up to 28 Employees

Virama's accommodation is divided across three blocks: the 6BHK Villa (sleeps 14) is ideal for leadership teams or senior employees; the two king rooms (sleep 4–6) give team leads a quieter private space; and the 10-bed bunker dorm is popular with engineering and junior teams — it creates its own social dynamic, and teams consistently say the bunker room conversations are the best ones of the outing.

All rooms are air-conditioned with attached bathrooms, clean linen and 24hr hot water. Wi-Fi is available in the main farmhouse — intentionally limited range, which discourages the impulse to stay on Slack during team activities. The disconnection is part of the retreat's value.

For groups larger than 28, Radha K can help arrange accommodation at trusted nearby properties with transport coordinated centrally to Virama.

Food for Corporate Groups

Virama's in-house cook prepares South Indian and North Indian meals fresh on-site — not outsourced catering from industrial quantity providers. For corporate outings the typical sequence is: South Indian lunch with rice, sambar, rasam and three sabzis; evening chai and snacks around the bonfire; and a North Indian dinner with roti, dal and a main course. Food is charged at ₹1,000/person additional, covering all meals for the day.

For overnight stays, breakfast the following morning is a relaxed farm morning: idli, poha, eggs, fresh juice and fruit. Teams consistently rate the food as one of the highlights of their stay — not an afterthought. Vegetarian, Jain and other dietary requirements can be accommodated with 48 hours' advance notice.
