What do people actually talk about after staying at a farm stay near Bangalore?
Swimming pools, activities and amenities are prominent in farm-stay marketing. But an analysis of public guest reviews suggests that the aspects people discuss most often are different.
Virama analyzed 700 written Google reviews across seven farm stays in and around Bangalore, using an equal sample of the 100 most recent written reviews available for each property.
The analysis found that hospitality, food and the opportunity to relax or escape city life were the three most frequently discussed themes.
Hospitality Appeared in More Than 60% of Reviews
Of the 700 reviews analyzed:
- 61.3% mentioned service, hospitality, hosts or staff.
- 56.6% mentioned food or meals.
- 51.6% mentioned peace, relaxation or escaping city life.
By comparison, 14.4% explicitly mentioned a swimming pool.
Hospitality-related language therefore appeared more than four times as often as swimming-pool mentions.

A single review could be assigned to more than one theme, so percentages should not be added together.
Hospitality Dominates the Conversation
Hospitality was the most frequently detected theme in the study.
429 of 700 reviews — 61.3% — contained language related to service, hospitality, hosts, staff, caretakers, friendliness or helpfulness.
That suggests that the human side of a farm-stay experience generates a substantial share of what reviewers choose to write about afterward.
The finding appeared across multiple properties rather than being restricted to Virama.
Food Is Almost as Prominent as Hospitality
Food appeared in 396 reviews, or 56.6% of the sample.
The theme included references to food, meals, breakfast, lunch, dinner, home-cooked food, chefs, cooking, barbecue and related dining experiences.
Farm-stay marketing often focuses heavily on facilities and scenery, but the review data shows that the meal experience frequently becomes part of what guests remember and describe.
The Escape From City Life Is Central to the Experience
361 reviews — 51.6% — contained language associated with peace, relaxation, serenity, quiet, unwinding, rejuvenation, getaways or escaping city life.
This was one of the clearest patterns in the dataset.
Reviewers frequently described farm stays not simply as accommodation, but as places to slow down, spend time away from the city and reconnect with quieter surroundings.
This is particularly relevant to Bangalore residents looking for short weekend breaks rather than conventional destination holidays.
Farm Stays Are Strongly Social Experiences
References to family, friends, children, groups, teams or get-togethers appeared in 40.6% of reviews.
This indicates that a significant part of the farm-stay experience around Bangalore revolves around shared stays.
Family weekends, groups of friends, celebrations and small team outings all appear repeatedly in review language.
Nature Matters, But So Does Comfort
Nature, greenery, trees, gardens, birds, scenery and related language appeared in 33.3% of reviews.
At the same time, rooms, cottages, beds, bathrooms and comfort appeared in 35.7%.
The two findings together suggest that reviewers often discuss both the rural environment and the quality of the accommodation.
Pools Get Attention — But Much Less Than Hospitality or Food
Swimming pools appeared explicitly in 101 of the 700 reviews, or 14.4%.
That is meaningful, but significantly lower than hospitality at 61.3%, food at 56.6%, or peace and relaxation at 51.6%.
The finding should not be interpreted as evidence that pools are unimportant in booking decisions. The study did not measure booking conversion or ask guests to rank amenities.
It shows something narrower: when people voluntarily write about their farm-stay experience, hospitality, food and relaxation appear considerably more often in the text than swimming pools.

Methodology
Property Selection
The study covers seven farm-stay or farm-stay-style properties serving the wider Bangalore weekend-travel market.

Properties were required to fall within the wider Bengaluru-area weekend-travel geography, operate as a farm stay or closely comparable farm-based stay, and have at least 100 written public Google reviews available for analysis.
Properties outside the geographic scope and properties without 100 written reviews were excluded from the final equal-weight sample.
Using 100 reviews per property prevents properties with substantially larger review volumes from dominating the aggregate results.
Review Selection
The research uses the 100 most recent written Google reviews available for each included property.
Reviews without written text were not used in the thematic analysis.
Duplicate review IDs were removed before analysis.
The selected review set spans multiple years through September 2026, with data collected in September 2026.
Theme Classification
Review text was analyzed against a predefined theme dictionary covering 14 areas.
For example, the hospitality theme included terms and phrases associated with service, hosts, staff, caretakers, friendliness and helpfulness.
The food theme included references to food, meals, breakfast, lunch, dinner, home-cooked meals and related dining language.
The peace and relaxation theme included language such as peaceful, serene, calm, quiet, relaxing, unwind, rejuvenate, escape and getaway.
A review could match multiple themes.
The percentages therefore describe the share of reviews mentioning each theme, not mutually exclusive categories.
What the Study Measures
This research measures what reviewers mention in written Google reviews.
It does not directly measure which feature caused someone to book a property, which amenity they consider most important, or how satisfied they were with every individual feature.
Review frequency should therefore not be interpreted as a direct preference ranking.
Research Limitations
The study is based on publicly available Google review text and has several limitations.
Reviewers are self-selecting and are not necessarily representative of every farm-stay guest in Bangalore.
The seven-property sample does not represent every farm stay near Bangalore.
Automated rule-based thematic classification can miss unusual wording or classify some phrases imperfectly.
Google reviews can be edited, removed or added after the research date.
The study analyzes aggregate review themes and does not rank or score individual properties.
The results should therefore be interpreted as a snapshot of recurring themes in public review text rather than a comprehensive survey of Bangalore travelers.
